A fire broke out aboard the Singapore-flagged container ship MV Interasia Tenacity on the morning of Thursday, June 12, 2025, at around 8:40 a.m., while the vessel was en route to the Nhava Sheva port near Mumbai.
The incident occurred in a single container stored on the ship’s deck as it sailed off the Kerala coast. The ship, which departed from Port Klang, Malaysia, on June 8, was carrying 1,387 containers and had 21 Filipino crew members onboard.
Upon detecting the fire, the crew issued a distress call, prompting the Indian Coast Guard to respond by diverting the offshore patrol vessel ICGS Sachet and conducting aerial surveillance. However, before external firefighting support could be deployed, the vessel’s crew successfully brought the fire under control. The ship’s captain later informed authorities that no further assistance was required.
To remind, a few days prior, a fire broke out on 9 June aboard the Singapore-flagged container vessel MV Wan Hai 503, approximately 130 nautical miles northwest of Kochi, India.
