MSC Shipmanagement Cyprus and Frederick University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the educational support for the next generation of maritime professionals.
Through this collaboration, MSC will provide scholarships and financial support to Cypriot students, encouraging them to pursue studies in the blue economy and strengthening the human capital of Cyprus.
More specifically, as part of the agreement signed on 2 June, short-term internships and two full scholarships will be made available to incoming students enrolled in the BSc in Maritime Studies at Frederick University. These scholarships will cover the full four-year duration of the program, with recipients selected by an evaluation committee. New scholarships will be offered every two years.
Furthermore, Frederick University will organise a series of educational workshops on maritime and shipping topics for professionals in the sector. The partnership also includes joint research initiatives and the organisation of academic events focused on maritime affairs and the blue economy.
Financial assistance will also be provided for student participation in the program’s annual educational field trip to Europe, which includes visits to key maritime institutions such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the Greenwich Observatory and the Baltic Exchange.
The collaboration includes funding for annual subscriptions to information resources that support students and researchers in maritime disciplines.
During the signing ceremony, Prabha Jha, Group Managing Director and CEO, MSC Shipmanagement Cyprus, highlighted his company’s commitment to supporting Cyprus’ younger generation in enhancing their knowledge and skills and progressing in careers in the maritime sector.
